Hello internet users and welcome to my factual documentary blogger page, On this blogger I will be showing me planning my documentary and doing Research into the idea of my choice. I will also be showing all of my different paperwork I have had to fill out and the interview questions that I will be coming up with to ask the interviewees. I will also be showing my editing log on what I did whilst I was editing my documentary. My documentary idea is Metrosexuality and what I wan to find out during this project is why do men go to salons now and why do they care more now about there appearance now. I also want to find out is that do men care about themselves to attract the opposite sex or is it to feel good about themselves. Where I want to film my documentary is at Jo Ferns in ashton because I will be able to get interviews from men and women to get different opinions on metrosexuality and why do lads care more now about there appearance.

Proposal
This blogpost is going to be about my documentary that I am going to be creating is my proposal for my Documentary about Metrosexuality.
Subject Idea
The subject idea that I have chosen for my documentary is Metrosexuality and what I am aiming to find out is why do guys wear make up when they go out and is it to impress girls or is to let them feel good about themselves and the same with women. I am going to be interviewing people from places such as salons and I will be interviewing men and women to get different peoples perspectives. I will also be doing some research on why men mainly wear make up when they go out and why they take so long to get themselves ready and is it to feel good about themselves or is it to impress women when they are out in town and why do women do the same thing.
Genre
The genre of my documentary will be factual and I will be interviewing some of the students at college and I will also be going to a salon where I get my hair cut and interviewing some of the workers who work there men and women and I will also be getting cutaways in there of people getting there hair done and just footage of what is happening in the salon. I have chosen to interview men and women to get a different view from both and I will sort out interview questions for both men and women.
Audience
The audience of my podcast will be from ages 16 and above because the majority of men and women who go out to town on a weekend to places such as Clubs, Pubs, Restaurants will try to look there best for when they go out both men and women so this is why I have chosen 16 and above for my Documentary.
Participants
The participants of my documentary will be workers at a salon where I go to get my hair done and I will be interviewing men and women who work in there because they cut peoples hair who go in and try to make men and womens hair look good and you also have to pay a lot of money for when you go in because they style me and womens hair so this will be the reason I will be interviewing them. I will also be interviewing some of the students who are in my Media group at college to get there views on why when they go out they try to make themselves look the best and why they do it.
Intended Channel
The intended channel for my documentary will be a ITV 2 documentary because they show a lot of scripted reality shows such as The Only Way is Essex and Made in Chelsea and my documentary will be similar to these.
Format
The format that I am going to be using for my documentary will be using formal language whilst I am doing my interviews because I want to make my documentary professional enough. My documentary will be calm, formal and upbeat and my documentary will be an observational documentary because I will be observing people getting there hair cut and people getting there hair styled.

Programme Concept
This blog post is going to be about my idea for my Documentary. My first Idea that I came up with was the carry on with my transport idea that I did for my podcast and going to the transport museum and interviewing people who work there. Instead I discussed the idea with my tutor to create a documentary about Metorsexuality and why do men and women care about there appearance more and get there hair cut in a certain way. Also another thing with Metrosexuality is that I want to find out why men get there hair cut in a certain way and why are men now allowed to wear make up and wear girls jeans and why do they wear a women version of leggings. I also want to find out with men caring more about there appearance when they go out is it to impress girls or men or do they dress in this certain way to make them feel good about themselves. I will be going to places such as salons and barbers and interviewing people who work in these places and I will also be trying to get some views off customers who work at salons and barbers as well as the people who are working there and I will be getting cutaways of people getting there hair cut in the salon and just what goes on in a salon. The main idea to get out of my documentary is what do women feel about male grooming and has it changed over the recent years. For the men I will be interviewing it will be more is your hairstyle important to you and why do men care about there appearance is it to look good or is it to feel good about themselves.

Similar Programs Geordie Shore
Geordie Shore
Another Similar program to my idea will be Geordie shore because the main aim on the show for the guys and girls is to put fake tan on when there going out also on this program they spend hours on doing there hair to make themselves look good then get themselves ready to look good in front of the girls and this is similar to my idea with guys wearing fake tan and having really big piercings and wearing tank top vests to ether make themselves look good infront of women or it is just to make themselves feel better about themselves. Anther reason it is similar because again it is scripted reality so the script writers will write the script for them and they will say whats on there in the program.
Similar Programmes The Only Way is Essex
The Only Way is Essex
This blog post is going to be about the similar programmes to my documentary that I am going to be making which is about Metrosexuality. The Similar Programmes to my idea would be programmes such as The Only Way Is Essex because in that Television programme it is about a load of girls and lads who wear fake tan and go out and dress themselves up to try to impress girls or feel good about themselves to try to attract women on the show and they also have fake tan on a lot whilst being on the show both men and women. The Only Way is Essex is a Scripted reality show which is where the writers will write the script for them to say on the program.

Similar Programs Made in Chelsea
Made in Chelsea
Another similar program to my idea is Made in Chelsea because it is very similar to my idea with the lads wearing fake tan and wearing girls jeans and tank tops when they go out to attract other women or maybe feel good about themselves and style there hair in a certain way which is different to most people and they all wear fake tan men and women on the show. These types of programs are dramas and are scripted reality and the documentary formats are Dramatisation and also are Narritvisations which is scripted reality which is where the writers will write the script for them to say on the program.
Research for Female Metrosexuality
Female metrosexuality is a concept that Mark Simpson explored with American writer Caroline Hagood They employed the female characters from the HBO series sex and the city in order to illustrate examples of wo-metrosexuality, a term Hagood coined to refer to the feminine form of metrosexuality. The piece implied that, although this phenomenon would not necessarily empower women, the fact that the metrosexual lifestyle de-emphasizes traditional male and female gender roles could help women out in the long run. However, it is debatable whether the characters made famous by Sex and the City truly de-emphasized female gender roles, given that the series focused a high amount of attention on stereotypically feminine interests like clothing, appearance, and romantic entanglements.
Research for Metrosexuality
Metrosexual is a neologism, derived from metropolitan and hetrosexual coined in 1994 describing a man (especially one living in an urban, post-industrial, capitalist culture) who is especially meticulous about his grooming and appearance, typically spending a significant amount of time and money on shopping as part of this term is popularly thought to contrast heterosexuals who adopt fashions and lifestyles stereotypically associated with homosexuals, although, by definition given by the originator.a metrosexual might be officially gay, straight or bisexual.
David Beckham was one of the main reasons with men caring about how they look with all his different hair styles and his big global image around the world and because how big he was with his global appeal everyone would follow his trend and they would all try to be like him by caring about how they look and is it for to impress girls or os it to feel good about themselves. By 2000 David Beckam had married Posh and his global appeal went massive and he then created his own clothing brand and has his own perfumes and aftershaves and now he is the face of most mens underwear companies such as Calvin Clein and Emporio Armani so this shows that David Beckam was one of the main reasons men started to care about how they look.
Metrosexual man, the single young man with a high disposable income, living or working in the city (because that’s where all the best shops are), is perhaps the most promising consumer market of the decade. In the Eighties he was only to be found inside fashion magazines such as GQ. In the Nineties, he’s everywhere and he’s going shopping.
However, it was not until the early 2000s when Simpson returned to the subject that the term became globally popular.
In 2002, Salon.com published an article by Simpson,[3] which identified David Beckam as the metrosexual poster boy and offered this updated, succinct definition:
The typical metrosexual is a young man with money to spend, living in or within easy reach of a metropolis — because that’s where all the best shops, clubs, gyms and hairdressers are. He might be officially gay, straight or bisexual, but this is utterly immaterial because he has clearly taken himself as his own love object and pleasure as his sexual preference.

Editing
Here are a few screen shots of my documentary all edited and finished the documentary lasts 3minutes 45 seconds and there is a song playing in the background called Just Jack Stars in their eyes the song is only playing in the background so it doesn't go over the interviews and answers What went well whilst I was creating my documentary was all the filming that I have done is good and the camera worked well and I had no problems whilst using the cameras ether when I was doing filming and the batteries never ran out ether whilst I was using them. I had some problems with editing such as getting the hang of editing but once I did editing was fine as well so whilst I made my documentary I didn't have to many problems creating the documentary.

Metrosexuality Documentary
This is my finished piece for my factual documentary and there is a link at the top of this page which will take you to youtube to allow you to watch my documentary on youtube. I have enjoyed making this documentary and the part that I have enjoyed the most about creating my documentary is the filming of the documentary and the planning that I have done into creating the documentary. The part that I have disliked about making the documentary is the editing part as I think I need to develop my skills when editing and learn a bit more about Final Cut Express. Another thing that I struggled with whilst making my documentary was some of my interview shots there are to much head room and for next time I make a documentary I need to make sure that there isn't to much head room. Also on my finished documentary the sound on my documentary isn't as good as I would want it to be.
